about

The album I made immediately after 'In Transit on Chestnut Street,' kind of on accident, but I suddenly found myself with enough tracks for an album, and I had to admit that I had raised the bar on my track quality and catchyness since the previous album, thus 'Pet Dander' was compiled. I did not advocate for this album well among friends and internet forums, as during that spring and summer of 2004, my friends and I began shifting from a love of electronic music to an interest in indie rock, aided by the beguiling releases of Arcade Fire's 'Funeral,' The Shins's 'Chutes Too Narrow,' and Modest Mouse's 'Good News for People Who Love Bad News.' Thus, 'Pet Dander' mostly sat on a folder on my hard drive, occasionally listened to by me. However, alongside that newfangled lust for rock music, my interest in electronic music and production was maintained, and indie influences had even begun to creep in to my production on this record. It is arguably my favorite era of my own music making and contains two of my favorite tracks, 'Joyous Joy' and 'Brock's Elated Eyes,' which was originally and mysteriously titled just 'Brock.'
